This year’s Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club’s annual Wellesley Marketplace event that took place Saturday at the Wellesley Middle School drew over 2,000 shoppers and 175+ exhibitors. I scooted in early to take a few pictures and left wishing I could have really dug in and shopped, it all looked that enticing. But duty called me away to cheer on athletes at a far-flung field, so even though I really hated to miss out, such is the life of a rabid fan.
Here are some pictures of the event which raises money that is donated to both local charities and to Wellesley High School students. In 2014-2015, WHJWC donated approximately $130,000 to the community through scholarships and charitable grants to local non-profit organizations.
The group’s next fundraiser is Luminary Night. A $20 donation gets you a kit that includes materials to create 10 luminaries. Then, on December 13, 6 – 9pm, enjoy the sight as businesses and neighborhoods all over town become positively incandescent with lighted luminary candles glowing along streets, sidewalks, and on doorsteps. Some neighborhoods make a party night of it, complete with hot chocolate and Christmas carolling.
