We frequently get requests from readers to help find missing dogs and cats or to reunite such pets with their owners. But today we got a new one: A request to help a statue of an Irish saint find its way home, perhaps to a resident’s home, a cemetery or a church.
A Swellesley reader writes that on Saturday at around 6pm a roughly 2-foot-high stone statue of the Irish Saint Fiacre was left on a lawn on Cleveland Road. Was this some not-so-subtle message that the lawn needed some work? After all, St. Fiacre is the patron saint of gardening (and of venereal disease sufferers).
The reader didn’t take a selfie with the statue, but we did find a photo on QVC that might give you the general idea.
If you think the statue might be yours, check in with the Wellesley Police Department. That’s where the saint is hanging out now, maybe helping out a sinner or two.
