Nate Freiman, the former Wellesley Little Leaguer who went on to debut in MLB’s Oakland Athletics back in 2013, has been released by the A’s. But according to the Wellesley High Raiders baseball team, Freiman asked for his release and has signed with the Atlanta Braves, so the 6-8 first baseman’s professional baseball career continues.
The 28-year-old Freiman has batted .256 and hit 9 homers in 277 major league at-bats. He played this past season at AAA for the Nashville Sounds.
(Baseball America followed up on our report about Freiman going to the Braves the following week.)
