The sign for Justine’s Grill, the restaurant that went dark 2 years ago on Rte 9 east next to the Dunkin’ Donuts, has finally come down.
The ill-fated restaurant, which opened in late 2012 as Justine’s Table, never was able to win over the Board of Selectmen, which declined to approve a liquor license among many questions about parking and ownership.
While the Justine’s banner never quite gained a public following like other Wellesley landmarks, from St. James the Great Church to Grossman’s to the Wellesley Inn, it did have decent staying power for a temporary sign.
As for the 978 Worcester St. property, R.W. Holmes Realty does have a lease out for the Justine’s space and a medical group is set to occupy the suite next to Dunkin’ Donuts.
Meanwhile, residential units are rising fast behind that building.
