The U.S. Navy Concert Band, the premier wind ensemble of the U.S. Navy, will be performing at Wellesley High School on Monday March 7 at 7pm. Ten yet-to-be-named members of Wellesley High’s wind ensemble will have the opportunity to perform live with this band, which performs at presidential inaugurations and other state ceremonies.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is expected to be well attended, so those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve their seats now at http://tinyurl.com/
The stop at Wellesley High is part of the U.S. Navy’s national tour program, which reaches audiences across the country that might not have the opportunity to see these top musical ensembles in Washington, D.C. The event also enables the U.S. Navy to connect with veterans and those interested in service to their country.
The band’s roots go back to the early 20th century, and while it might be known for its patriotic pieces, the ensemble plays a wide variety of music, and has played with many celebrities over the years.
