UPDATE: 12:30pm
Dear WPS Community,
Based on our continued monitoring of today’s storm, all afternoon and evening activities for the Wellesley Public Schools, including athletic practices and games, have been postponed. All building rentals at all WPS schools are also cancelled for today. We anticipate that any activities for Saturday and Sunday will proceed as scheduled. Please stay safe throughout the storm.
Best regards,
Dr. David Lussier
Wellesley Public Schools have announced their first snow day of the 2015-16 school year, though decisions are yet to be made on night activities at the schools, since things could clear up later in the day. Dana Hall School and MassBay also said classes are cancelled Friday (for MassBay, AM & PM classes).
Here’s the note from WPS Superintendent David Lussier:
Dear WPS Community,
Today’s storm has been challenging to assess. Snow is already beginning to accumulate in Wellesley and is expected to continue into the afternoon. While we could conceivably start school safely, dismissal would be extremely problematic, particularly for our buses, which have to complete their middle and high school runs before returning to pick up our elementary students. Based on all of this information, I don’t believe we can complete a school day safely and as such, I am announcing that the Wellesley Public Schools will be closed today. We will make a decision later today about evening activities occurring in our buildings. Please be safe throughout the storm.
Best regards,
Dr. David Lussier
