Online dictionary Dictionary.com has issued a list this week of the word or definition searched on most by those attending an assortment of colleges, and the word “dissolve” is #1 at Wellesley College for no apparent reason.
Could these be perplexed chemistry students? Could they be students reading this 2013 paper from the college titled “Deciding to Dissolve: Individual- and Relationship-Level Predictors of Roommate Breakup”?
Other top searches include phlegmatic (Baylor), bare (Dartmouth) and metaphor (Northeastern). They didn’t include Babson on the list.
Dictionary.com says it uses Internet addresses, zip codes and geo-location information to determine where searches are coming from, but offers no explanations or guesses as to why people are searching on certain words.
If anyone has any clue why Wellesley College students (or people in the area) would be searching on the world dissolve so much, feel free to chime in on comments.
