Organizers of the Wellesley 1 Miler, a road race that has honored the spirit of Wellesley High student Hannah Randolph since her accidental death in 2012, have announced that there will be no race this May. Instead, the race organizers and the Hannah Randolph Memorial Fund are turning their attention to a new effort dubbed Hannah’s Helpers, which throughout April will try to inspire individuals and groups to undertake projects or simple gestures that make the world a better place.
The organizers make suggestions on the Hannah’s Helpers website: “Organized group activities, individual efforts, donating to a good cause, being extra nice to your parents or siblings, planting a tree, whatever!”
Participants are encouraged to share photos by sending them to Raceonemile@gmail.com and they‘ll be posted on the Hannah’s Helpers photo gallery, Twitter account and Facebook page.
Members of New England Track and Trail and Hannah’s parents, Marshall and Karen, got things rolling this weekend by volunteering at a Habitat for Humanity build in Wayland (photos here).
