You probably feel like you’ve run a marathon already after enduring all the marketing, social media posts and news stories about Monday’s Boston Marathon. But here are a few more items of possible interest for those of you planning to watch the race in Wellesley:
*If you’ve never seen hung out at the Scream Tunnel at Wellesley College, it’s worth a look and listen. With nice weather expected, there should be a strong showing along the stretch just past Mile 12 of the race course. Students have busily been preparing signs, which you can count on to be funny, inspiring and inappropriate.
*Wellesley Village Church, the one smack in the center of town at the 13.1-mile mark of the race, is temporarily renaming itself as “Church of the Half Way.” The church will have a sign-making table available on the day of the race if you’d like to get crafty, and members of the congregation will also be handing out fruit and water to runners. In addition, the bathrooms will be open to spectators, much to the shrubs’ delight.
*New Wellesley Square business Webster Bank will crank up its marketing game with the slogan”In Stride with Boston.” Bankers will be cheering on runners, handing out water and bananas, and they’ll also be doling out t-shirts to spectators who don’t mind being walking billboards.
