Wellesley schools running focus groups on Special Education

April 3, 2016 by admin

This from the Wellesley Student Services department:

Dear WPS Community Members,

During the last eight months a group of community members representing parents, teachers, administrators and the School Committee have begun the important work of establishing a Strategic Plan for Special Education in the Wellesley Public Schools.

A critical step of the strategic planning process is to check in with our stakeholders who help inform this process. In order to capture this feedback, we invite you to participate in one of our forthcoming focus groups in which we will explore the following questions:

  • What are the strengths and weaknesses of special education in Wellesley?
  • What do we see as the opportunities and threats in the next 3-5 years?
  • What are our priorities for improvement?
  • How will we monitor our progress?

Parent committee members will facilitate the focus groups on the following dates:

          April 7, 2016
9:00 am Wellesley Police Department Kingsbury Room
7:00 pm Wellesley Middle School Library

April 13, 2016
9:00 am Wellesley Police Department Kingsbury Room

7:00 pm Wellesley Middle School Library

Regardless of your current involvement with the Special Education Department, we welcome you to participate in one of these events to help us strengthen our District programming. We will approach these forums by identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats as they related to supporting students.

In preparation we encourage you to review the District Strategic Plan, which can be found at the following link:

Should you have questions or need accommodations, please call June Ouellette at 781-446-6210 ext. 5629 or emailouellettej@wellesleyps.org. We look forward to the conversation!

Sincerely,

Lori Cimeno
Director of Student Services
