Wellesley’s Sustainable Energy Committee is seeking a part-time Sustainable Energy Administrator. The Administrator will lead the development and implementation of programs and initiatives designed to reduce energy consumption and increase renewable energy purchases, thus helping the Town achieve the carbon footprint reduction goals adopted by Town Meeting. The employee will work collaboratively with Town departments and community groups to facilitate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by residential, business and municipal sectors of the Town. The job also calls for preparing an annual report to Town Meeting on actions and emissions trends, and providing administrative support to the Sustainable Energy Committee. As requested, the employee will also work on sustainable energy projects under the direction of the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant, which is providing half the funding for the position.
Requirements include: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science and course work in statistical analysis or an equivalent competence acquired through a combination of education and experience; knowledge of sustainable energy practices; experience in outreach activities; excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build consensus and work cooperatively; ability to prioritize workload; and proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Internet searches and knowledge of or ability to learn ICLEI ClearPath software.
The anticipated hiring range of pay is $27.75 to $35.00, DOQ. The position is not benefit eligible. Work hours are flexible, depending upon work load, but are generally less than 20 hours/week. The position is available on or after July 1, 2016.
