The annual Pancake Festival that young ballplayers shake you down to buy tickets for each spring and that helps to kick off Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend each year now has a new name: The Breakfast Festival.
The new name for the 55-year-old gathering organized by the Rotary Club of Wellesley reflects a broader menu that in addition to regular pancakes includes gluten-free ones, as well as yogurt, fruit, ham, coffee and other drinks.
Another new thing this year is that compostable trays will be used, and composting and recycling stations will be provided to minimize waste. The Sustainable Wellesley group is partnering with the Rotary on this and asks that if you’d like to volunteer to help guests put their things in the correct bin, to sign up for a one-hour slot here.
Tickets for the event, to be held at Wellesley Middle School’s cafeteria on Saturday, May 21 from 7am-2pm, are $5, though kids 3 and under get in free. Tickets can be had at the Roche Bros.
