The Wellesley Natural Resources Commission is bringing a herd of four goats to Boulder Brook Reservation from June 2-16 to get rid of nasty and invasive stuff like poison ivy, garlic mustard, bittersweet and Japanese knotweed.
The NRC has resorted to this pesticide-free approach in the past as well to rid the Kelly Field and Bates area of unwanted vegetation.
A Duxbury company will set up the goatscaping system, including a four-foot high solar-powered electric fence to keep the goats contained and prevent predators from harming them.
Residents are welcome to view the goats at work but shouldn’t try to pet the animals as they may have poison ivy oils on their hair.
