Wellesley Middle School mini marathoners looking swift

May 9, 2016 by Deborah Brown

Wellesley Middle School mini-marathon
The 8th grade girls’ medalists are all smiles.

Wellesley Middle School’s annual mini-marathon, during which hundreds of sixth through eighth graders run a course slightly shorter than the regulation 26.2 mile race, took place on Friday in cool temperatures and cloudy weather conditions. Runners navigated a nearly 2-mile course that wound through neighborhoods, around the school, and on to the Sprague playing fields (see videos of 8th grade boys’ and girls’ races below).

The annual event, which had been postponed from earlier in the week due to inclement weather, is organized by the WMS Fitness & Health Department and the PTO, and celebrates fitness and school spirit. The results are tabulated, and here are the top three boy and girl finishers in each grade (quite the finish in that 8th grade boys’ and 6th grade girls’ race):

8th grade boys
