UPDATE: 6/27/16
The race has been canceled for 2016:
From the organizers: A long-time fixture on the summer road racing circuit, the 2016 Marathon Sports 5 Miler will have to be canceled due to unforeseen construction and community improvement projects in the town of Weston. We are terribly disappointed to have to cancel what has become a great midsummer tradition and an event through which we have donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for many years. We will be back and better than ever next summer, and hope to see you there with us! Please see below for the answers to any questions you may have, or email us at mail@marathonsports.com with any additional questions or concerns.
(Guess you can ignore the original post below now…)
It’s been a busy spring full of road races in Wellesley, and now that the Schofield 5K is done, you might be looking for another race nearby to run. Might we suggest the Marathon Sports 5 Miler nearby in Weston on Thursday, July 21 at 7pm. The race starts and ends at Weston High, with a course that begins on grass, heads onto the roads, and finishes on a track.
Yes, it always seems to be super hot that night, and the course isn’t exactly a breeze, but the event is well-organized, very spirited and all proceeds go to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The race has been held for 41 years, the first 17 in Wellesley.
Hey!!! Why not move the race to another location for this year? Just move it over to Wellesley this year.
I’d rather run a good race – and you keep putting them on – and then move back to Weston next year.
