Wellesley’s Mary Mazzio, a talented documentary maker whose sports claim to fame was rowing in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games for the United States, will be taking part in festivities on June 23rd aimed at celebrating fitness and getting people geared up for the summer games.
If you didn’t know, June 23 became Olympic Day back in 1948 after some marketers decided to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympics back on June 23, 1894 in France. (June 23rd also marks International Widows Day and National Pecan Sandies Day for those of you who celebrate such things.)
Mazzio will do a public meet-and-greet from noon to 1pm at Boston Sports Clubs in Wellesley (140 Great Plain Ave.), then take part in a private Q&A and physical fitness/team building event for BSC Wellesley campers ages 6-12.
