Swellesley reader HB shared this photo of what he described as a mink skittering across the backyard of a Wellesley home. “Hard to imagine a mink in Wellesley that wasn’t in a coat!”, the reader quipped.
Follow up: Some readers have suggested this is more likely a fisher cat than a mink, and indeed fisher cats are seen fairly frequently in these parts…

My husband and I were on Lowell Rd at 5PM ,close to Old Colony, and the mink crossed ahead of us. It is not a Fisher cat, for sure a mink. We were surprised to say the least.
A mink came on our deck last year and propped up on his hind legs and peered inside our screen door. It was too small to be a fisher cat. We have seen a fisher cat as well in the woods next to the high school.
I saw the mink yesterday 02/26 where Ivy road meets Oak St. Shocked yo see it! Beautiful animal.
