As Wellesley Public Schools re-open this week, administrators have welcomed the community back with messages about building renovations over the summer, possible future building consolidation, efforts to address racial issues and a fresh look at student fees. But if you’re wondering about the Pikachu in the room, Superintendent David Lussier says the administration has not issued any formal guidelines or messages on the topic of Pokemon Go, the mobile game that took Wellesley and everywhere else by storm over the summer.

While Pokemon Go appears to have peaked, according to some new metrics, don’t overlook the possibility that kids reuniting after the summer break could give the mobile game a second wind. It sounds like if Wellesley students play it cool and don’t allow Pokemon Go to be a distraction in classrooms, etc., the fun might continue.
