No, the cops won’t be lassoing tots on trikes or trying to buck kids off their bikes, but the Wellesley Police Department will be sponsoring a free bike rodeo on Sunday, October 16 at Wellesley High School from 10 to 11:30 AM for children up to age 12. The event is free; all that is needed is a bike, a helmet, and a parent.
The bike rodeo will feature a bike safety check, biking skill builders, helmet fittings, and bike registration. The skill events section will feature bike challenges including how slow can you go, the crazy 8 balance course, an obstacle course, and safely using your brakes.
Members of the Wellesley Police Department Bike Patrol Unit will run the event, along with Sergeant Brian Spencer. The weather looks good for the weekend, so we hope to see you there.
For more information, feel free to contact Sgt. Brian Spencer at BSpencer@wellesleyma.gov or Officer Kathy Poirier KPoirier@Wellesleyma.gov
