Wellesley Free Library on Tuesday, Oct. 25 (7pm) is hosting a special program called “Living on Mars: What are the Issues?” Former NASA astronaut Jeff Hoffman and local author Frank White will take their best shot at answering your questions.
With President Obama voicing his hope that NASA will get a human on Mars by the 2030s and Matt Damon showing how to survive on a movie version of the planet (The Martian), Mars is hot.
Among the issues to be discussed at the library event:
- How will human beings survive in a non-terrestrial environment?
- How would a Mars settlement be governed?
- What would we do if we found primitive life there?
White will also be signing his book, The Overview Effect: Space Exploration and Human Evolution (Library of Flight), after the talk.
