The Wellesley High School community was informed Thursday that WHS guidance counselor Rosanne Sannicandro has passed away after a long illness. Services are Tuesday/Wednesday, Oct. 25/26.
Principal Jamie Chisum shared the news with students via a video message Thursday morning and with parents via a note. WHS has mobilized a team to support students and staff during this tough time.
Chisum wrote in part: “This year would have been Rosanne’s 30th in the Wellesley High School Guidance Department. She has touched the lives of an untold number of Wellesley High School community members across every stakeholder group. I know there will be many students at the high school who are not affected by her loss directly, but I am acutely aware that so many of our staff members are feeling her passing in deep, meaningful ways. Our staff is grieving for the loss of their friend and colleague.”

My deepest condolences to Ms. Sannicandro’s family, friends and colleagues. I had the distinct pleasure to work closely with Roseanne for ten years during my tenure at Wellesley High School. We shared many fun moments and lengthy conversations. WHS has lost a great champion for it’s students. Roseanne will truly be missed.
