The Wellesley Board of Selectmen on Monday unanimously voted to offer the job of Executive Director to Blythe Robinson, who has been town manager in Upton since 2010. She was one of two finalists, and the job is hers pending contract negotiations and a physical.
Current Wellesley Executive Director Hans Larsen is retiring this fall after 11 years on the job, and now Wellesley needs a new executive director because residents voted against going with a town manager instead. The job of executive director involves assisting the Board of Selectmen in its annual development of town-wide goals and objectives and coordinating staff initiatives to achieve them.
The board hopes Robinson might start soon so that her tenure would overlap with Larsen’s so that the handoff will be smoothed. She’d be coming on at a time when Wellesley is formulating a Unified Plan to identify the visions and priorities of Wellesley residents and set goals and priorities for issues ranging from land use planning, economic development, housing, transportation, and education, to Town government operations and finance.
