Next Wellesley Symphony Orchestra concert goes into Opera and Beyond

On November 20th at 3pm, Maestro Max Hobart will lead the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra in a performance of the overture to The Barber of Seville by Rossini, two of Dvorak’s popular Slavonic dances, Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1, and arias from The Barber of Seville, Carmen, Don Giovanni, and the Magic Flute.

John Castillo will join the orchestra to sing the Toreador Song from Carmen, Largo al factotum from The Barber of Seville, Der Vogelfänger bin ich ja from Mozart’s Magic Flute, and Deh vieni alla finestra and Finch’han dal vino from Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

The baritone has sung the National Anthem at the 2004 Red Sox home opener, performed a duet with Natalie Merchant and more. He is a student at the New England Conservatory’s SCE and a graduate of Perkins School for the Blind.

The performance is at MassBay Community College, 50 Oakland St. in Wellesley.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for students and seniors, and free for children under 12. They can be purchased at Walgreens in Wellesley, Wellesley Books, Steinert Pianos in Natick, on-line, at the door, or by calling 781-235-0515. There is plenty of free parking.
