Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Leo Roy joined with John Hancock Financial, state legislators, and local officials on Monday in celebrating a public/private partnership to make the Charles River Reservation area accessible to local employees, visitors and the general public from the Wellesley Office Park off of Rte. 9 West/William Street. John Hancock Financial has invested $600K in the project, overseen by the DCR.
The improvements made or to be made include:
- Creation of a pedestrian pathway;
- Installation of a boardwalk;
- Management of vegetation; and,
- Construction of two decks that overlook the Charles River (to be built during the winter of 2016/2017).
According to the agreement with the DCR, the Wellesley Office Park will maintain all improvements in perpetuity.
