The Davis Museum at Wellesley College is praying that you’ll like its next big exhibition, “The Medici’s Painter: Carlo Dolci and 17th-Century Florence,” running from Feb. 10-July 9.
This will be a rare display at the museum that the general public will need to buy tickets for if they want to go.
The museum says this is the first exhibition in America devoted to the paintings and drawings of Italian artist Carlo Dolci (1616–1687). “It provides an unprecedented opportunity to study the life and oeuvre of 17th-century Florence’s most important painter, whose reverence for detail, brilliant palette, and seemingly enameled surfaces earned the favor of powerful Medici patronage,” according to the Davis.
An Opening Celebration and keynote lecture will take place at Collins Cinema, Davis Lobby and Galleries on Thursday, February 9.
6:30 – 7:30pm – Keynote Lecture
7:30 – 9:00pm – Reception and Gallery Viewing
