Debut novelist Abby Fabiaschi has set I Liked My Life right here in Wellesley, and it lays bare the life of the Starlings, a Wellesley family if ever there was one, complete with a high-powered career dad and a mom with a cool job that leaves her enough time to tend to her bright, accomplished daughter.
I loved this book.
I loved her characters, the layers of suspicion she cultivated in me as a reader, the descriptions of familiar spots around town. Most of all, I loved that Fabiaschi had me swearing up and down that I knew — as in could name them — actual Wellesley people among the characters she oh-so-casually allowed to drop in here and there. I won’t tell you which characters or who in town they translate to, but I just know I’m right.
She’ll be at Wellesley Books on Wednesday, February 1, 7pm.
