Maria Schneider, a jazz composer and band leader who won two 2016 Grammy Awards, is coming to Wellesley next month both to perform with her orchestra and to share her experiences in music and entrepreneurism with students and the general public.
Schneider and her orchestra are coming off of a banner year in which they won Grammy Awards for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album (The Thompson Fields) and Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocal for David Bowie’s “Sue (or in a Seasons of Crime)”. Those are on top of two earlier Grammies.
Schneider and her orchestra will perform a concert at Babson’s Sorenson Center on March 10 at 7:30pm. The show is free for Wellesley/Babson/Olin college students and open to the public for $20 per ticket.
Schneider will also talk shop on Friday, March 10 at 12:30pm at the Black Box Theater in Babson’s Sorenson Center. She’ll discuss the fan-funded ArtistsShare platform, musical advocacy, entrepreneurism and more. This is free and open to the public.
Schneider and her orchestra will also be in residency at Wellesley College that week to work with students.
