The Wellesley Free Library is updating its Strategic Plan. As part of that process, the library is seeking input from residents of all types, both library lovers and those who never use the facility. Residents are being asked to visit the library’s web site, to sign up for one of three ninety minute focus groups.
The first two will be held on Tuesday, February 7, in the Arnold Room at the Main Library, at 9am and 10:45am. The third will be held at the Hills Branch at 7pm on Monday, February 13. The focus groups are one of several steps the library will take before completing the plan this summer. Light refreshments will be served.
The library also has a nifty “Library Engagement Quiz” up and running designed to help them find out what kind of library user you are. I took the quiz, even though it’s common knowledge that the library and I long ago moved past the engagement phase of our relationship. We’ve been more like old marrieds, the library and me, for longer than I’ve been actually married. Still the quick, 20-question, click-the-bubble quiz was fun, asking me to imagine terrifying scenarios such as “If your local public library closed, would that have a major impact on our family?” or making sure our paperwork is all in order with the question, “Do you have a library card?”
My answers pegged me as a Library Lover, part of an elite group that has “strikingly positive views of public libraries compared with other groups…and are disproportionately younger (emphasis added by blogger) than the general population.”
Who needs spa treatments when you’ve got the library keeping you young?
