The Wellesley Symphony Orchestra has scored quite a coup, welcoming Boston Symphony Orchestra violinist Lucia Lin to their Sunday, February 5, 3pm performance. Lin will join Maestro Max Hobart and the Wellesley Symphony in a performance of Bruch’s virtuosic Scottish Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra. The Wellesley High School Honors Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Sergei Khanukaev, will join the WSO for Dances of Panama, a suite of pieces by William Grant Still. An orchestration of Debussy’s classic Children’s Corner Suite completes the program.
I had the rare opportunity to attend a salon at my neighbor –and Wellesley Symphony Orchestra first violinist — Carol Davidson’s home where Lin played in a relaxed setting for a group of about thirty music lovers at a fundraiser for the Wellesley Symphony. Here’s a video of Lin’s performance there:
Sunday’s concert will be preceded by talk by Leslie Holmes at 2:15pm.
