On Thursday, May 4, from 7–8:30 p.m., Dana Hall School will host The Forum: A Conversation on Girls and Competition. This collaborative program is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
The Forum at Dana Hall School is a symposium series designed to examine a topic of particular relevance to girls and girls’ education. As youth and high school sports become increasingly intense for girls, so has the focus on specialization, college opportunities, and the big picture beyond athleticism and skill. A panel of experts will weigh in on what this all means for girls, specifically: from misconceptions in the college recruiting process, to how parents can best support their student athletes, to injury prevention and management, to the ways in which girls compete.
Panelists include Bridget Belgiovine, director of Athletics and chair of the Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics (PERA) department at Wellesley College; Chris Hamblin, Branca Family Head Coach for Harvard Women’s Soccer; and Christy Haughey ’10, a three-sport Dana Hall athlete and four-year Division I college field hockey player at Harvard University. John Suby, director of Athletics, Health and Wellness at Dana Hall School, will serve as the moderator for the event.
