May 7, 2017 by Bob Brown Leave a Comment

Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, Jr., Wellesley Theatre Project

Wellesley Theatre Project will present the musical Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, Jr. on Wednesday May 17, Thursday, May 18, and Friday, May 19, at 5:30pm and 7:30pm and Saturday, May 20 at 2pm and 5pm. All performances will take place at the Wellesley Community Center, located at 219 Washington St. Tickets are priced $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors, and may be purchased online at www.wellesleytheatreproject.org/tickets in advance, or at the door for $18 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.

Specially adapted from Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and his 1971 screenplay, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, the show features favorites such as “The Candy Man, “Pure Imagination,” and “Oompa Loompa.” World famous candy manufacturer Willy Wonka has decided to retire and is looking for an heir to take over his factory. Five lucky winners of Wonka’s contest will find golden tickets inside of Wonka chocolate bars, and receive a tour of Wonka’s factory, and a lifetime supply of chocolate. Follow Charlie, Augustus, Violet, Veruca, Mike Teavee, and their parents on a delicious adventure to Wonka’s factory.

Due to a high demand in participation there are two talented casts filled with 70 students between the ages of seven and thirteen that comprise the cast.
