Numerous Wellesley High sports teams have had fantastic springs, but it was the boys tennis and baseball teams that grabbed headlines this past weekend by winning their respective D1 South sectional championships. Their big wins earned both teams police escorts (tennis here, baseball here) back to Wellesley High School.

The top-seeded WHS tennis team eked out a 3-2 victory over Newton North, led by singles victories by Alex Kley and Alex Novins, and a doubles win by Patrick Kley/Michael Ryan. The state tournament winds up this week, with Wellesley taking on Acton-Boxborough on Monday afternoon in Lexington.
The baseball team entered the tournament as the 13th seed with an 11-9 record, but has gotten hot when it matters most. Led by pitchers Michael Kenney and Teddy Goss, the Raiders edged Bridgewater-Raynham by a 3-1 score to take the Division 1 South crown and qualified to take on North champ Lowell in Lynn on Tuesday as the state tournament semi-final action commences.
