The Wellesley Council on Aging says it plans to move from the Wellesley Community Center to the new Tolles Parsons Center at 500 Washington St., during the week of Aug. 28. Guided tours of the new building will be offered during the week of Labor Day.
The Council is offering a lighter schedule of programs this summer as it ramps up for the move, and plans to offer programs at the new location by mid-September.

The Tolles Parsons Center WILL have a fitness center which will include an upright bike, recumbent bike, treadmill, elliptical, recumbent stepper, and weight bench. There has been much thought put into what machines to purchase including discussions with our neighboring centers (Natick and Needham and others) to find out which pieces of equipment are most popular and recommended for use by senior citizens. We are presently working on what the policy will be for using the fitness center and once again will lean on other senior centers with fitness centers for their guidance. We look forward to this new offering for seniors!

I am 70 years old and live directly behind the new senior center. I am very much looking forward to working out without having to drive to a gym. I sincerely hope that someone is planning appropriate exercise equipment for seniors

Hi, I am a 81 yr. old senior living in Wellesley Green senior condo complex on Grove St. I am very happy that the town will finally have a good senior center. I am particularly interested in the fitness room, as I exercise 3 times a week at Natick Senior Center. Natick has been kind enough to let me come there to exercise. Their fitness room is great, and I would like to have a similar facility in our senior center. Has anyone from your staff visited the Natick center to see what they have? We should have as good a fitness room as they do in terms of equipment and the layout. I thank you for your efforts to create a great senior center.
