UPDATE: The school has indeed closed.
Back in February 2017, we got questions from about Wellesley Driving School from readers wondering why the school’s website was down and its main business number disconnected, and what that might mean for the future of the 151 Linden St. business. At that time, we left a voicemail at the 32-year old business’ main number, as well as at an additional number that was listed on the company’s front door, but nobody ever got back to us.
Later in February, the company’s website was back up, with links to calendars, and email address, and a working phone number. We also noticed the school’s logo on cars driving around town, and it looked to us like a typical driving lesson situation, with a teen in the driver’s seat, and an instructor riding shotgun.
Now Wellesley Driving School’s website has once again gone dark, and a recording states that the phone number is not in service. Their sign is still up on the exterior of 151 Linden St., however a visit to the office showed no signs of occupancy. There was no answer to a knock on the door, and there were no calendars or brochures taped to the wall, as in the past.
Wellesley Driving School is listed on the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles list of Driving Instructor Training Course approved schools.
According to Wellesley Driving School’s Better Business Bureau profile, the business opened in 1985.
According to MASS RMV they are closed. There is a person there who will help families who had been registered with them and took some classes. She is Leony.Simo@State.MA.US
I paid nearly $905 and can’t get a hold of anyone. What are my options?
My older daughter took Went to Wellesley Driving School. When my next child was ready to go, we decided on Needham instead. Which was a good thing. I needed to get my parent certificate from Wellesley. Spoke to someone on the phone who was going to mail it to me. I never received it. Needham directed me to a woman at the RMV to confirm they had my parent certificate on file. The woman at RMV told me that they had shut down Wellesley Driving School.
