Shoppers turned out in droves for July Jubilation in Wellesley Square and Church Square on Saturday afternoon, picking up bargains, grabbing refreshments and hobnobbing with friends and retailers, jugglers and fairies.
(A very large SOLD sign in the square also had shoppers buzzing.)
We ran across numerous celebrities — i.e., friends and Swellesley sponsors — who showed off their steals or their booths. We snapped up a couple of lovely hostess gifts, but then we didn’t wind up going to the event we’d originally planned to attend — so we’re eagerly awaiting our next invitation. We feasted on hotdogs at the fire station, though kind of blew it by not grabbing a free Italian ice at the other end of the street when we first passed by.

Separately, a running friend a couple of days after July Jubilation mentioned that she got her usual great deal from Faber’s Rug at the sidewalk sale. But she would like to see organizers shake things up next year and rather than having a farmyard petting zoo and firefighter dunk tank, instead have a firefighter petting zoo and farm animal dunk tank…
