It took Belclare Wellesley relatively ages to follow up its successful condo sales with getting retail tenants signed on, but now the complex seems to have momentum.
A sign has popped up on Washington Street touting the imminent arrival of Pucker Gallery, which is expanding beyond its Newbury Street location in Boston. The business, led by the husband and wife team of Bernie and Sue Pucker, has been exhibiting international modern and contemporary art for 50 years.
Other art galleries in town include the likes of Page-Waterman and J. Todd Galleries.
While all had been quiet on the Washington Street retail front for Belclare for more than a year since condo tenants moved in, it was revealed in June that eyeware and optician business Agnes Vision of Wellesley would be filling one slot. Pucker will be right next door.
The big question is whether a restaurant might follow suit now, filling a void on a block that has recently seen both Susu Bakery and Blue Ginger close across the street.
