Wellesley Theatre Project is readying for 3 performances of the musical Chicago, which transports you to roaring twenties, as chorus girl and convicted murderer Roxie Hart vies for the spotlight in media headlines against another “Merry Murderess” named Velma Kelley. After being convicted of murdering faithless lovers, and unsuccessfully placing the blame on their husbands, the women join forces in search of their own American Dream: fame, fortune and acquittal. With this comes mobs of journalists, lawyers, criminals, and the appetite for fame. This satire features a score that includes “All That Jazz” and “Cell Block Tango,” among other songs.
