The Town of Wellesley, aided by a Fund for Wellesley grant, has added speech, reading and translation support to the town’s website with Browsealoud. This innovative tool from Texthelp helps the millions of people who struggle to access and understand information online.

Browsealoud works by reading website content out loud in a natural-sounding voice. It can translate web pages into 99 languages and read the content aloud in 40 of the most commonly spoken languages in the world.

To access Browsealoud, go to the Town of Wellesley website and click the white, circular launchpad in the upper right-hand corner to launch the Browsealoud toolbar. All you do is hover your mouse over any text to hear it read aloud. From a touchscreen device you’ll have to click on the text to hear it.

Now, check out the translation feature – Browsealoud can translate our website into 99 languages and read 40 of the most commonly spoken languages out loud.

Browsealoud makes web content much more accessible and usable by everyone. This addition to the town’s website reflects Wellesley’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion for all.
