artist Sally Meding coming to Wellesley — Sally Meding’s “Bad Hair Day” (watercolor, 15×22)

The Wellesley Society of Artists is hosting an evening with Sally Meding, who will share her creative process in a painting demonstration called “Realism through Abstraction.”

This event take place at the Wellesley Free Library, 530 Washington Street, on Wednesday, Sept. 27, with a reception and WSA Fall show awards presentation beginng at 6:30pm, followed by Meding’s demo at 7pm. The reception and demo are free of charge and open to the public.
Those attending are urged to bring a non-perishable food item for the WSA Food Drive for the Wellesley Food Pantry.

Meding, a native of London, obtained a PhD in Freiburg, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1990. She is a signature member of the New England and Southwestern Watercolor Societies, as well as the WSA. Meding creates mostly semi-abstract works in watercolor on paper. In her artwork she playfully uses color and shape in a game of contrasts, particularly pitting warm against cool, bright against dull, and light against dark. She has a studio in Natick, and teaches watercolor at all levels in the MetroWest area.
