Two Wellesley women — Wonder(ful) and Stylish — honored at fundraiser

October 25, 2017 by Deborah Brown Leave a Comment

I had the good fortune to score an invite to a fundraiser to benefit Young and Strong, the program for young women with breast cancer in the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. At this event, two of Wellesley’s well-know women were honored.

Dana-Farber metastatic breast and thyroid cancer patient Carol Chaoui, Wellesley’s own “Wonder Woman”, received the 2017 Bridget Mooney Spence Award, and Wellesley’s Linden Square business owner Sara Campbell received the 2017 Bridget Slotemaker Award. These awards look back by honoring the lives and legacies of the two courageous and inspiring young Bridgets who ultimately lost their battles with breast cancer and forward by recognizing current outstanding contributors to the Young and Strong program.

Held at the fabulous Boston Design Center in the Seaport district, proceeds from the fourth annual event help support Young and Strong. Here are a few pics:

Some of Carol’s crazy crew, there to support Young and Strong and to party down.

John and Stephanie Lowell, owners of East Dennis Oyster Farm, brought oysters so fresh they practically jumped out of their shell. I went back at least three times for more. They didn’t judge me.
