Wellesley Books announces October authors’ visits

Calling all book lovers: Wellesley Books authors’ visit line-up is listed below. The author will be in attendance at all events, and all events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted. All events will have books to purchase, unless otherwise noted.

Ridley Pearson, Lock & Key: The Downward Spiral — Sunday, October 15, 4pm

The bestselling author of the Kingdom Keepers series, will read from Lock and Key: The Downward Spiral, the second book in his riveting series about young Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty.

Avi, The Player King — Tuesday, October 17, 7pm. Ticketed event

The Newbery Award-winning author of more than 70 books for children and young adults will read from The Player King, a gripping and amazingly true middle-grade tale of a boy plucked from the gutter to become the King of England.

Tickets for this event are $5 (good for an adult plus a child) and can be used as a coupon off the price of the book. Buy tickets in-store, by phone, or online.

Cheryl Malone — Elephants Walk Together, Saturday, October 21, 2pm

Kids and parents, join us for a special story time as Cheryl Lawton Malone, author of Dario and the Whale, reads from Elephants Walk Together, a picture book about two elephants separated by many miles and many years whose friendship refuses to fade.

Claire Messud — The Burning Girl, Monday, October 23, 7pm. Ticketed event

The bestselling author of The Emperor’s Children, reads from The Burning Girl, a bracing, hypnotic coming-of-age story about the bond of best friends. Tickets for this event are $5 and can be used as a coupon off the price of the book. Buy tickets in-store, by phone, or online.

Instanbul and Beyond: Exploring the Diverse Cuisines of Turkey — Ticketed event

Tuesday, October 24, 7pm
Robyn Eckhardt, travel and food writer for Saveur, the New York Times, and Food & Wine, presents Istanbul and Beyond: Exploring the Diverse Cuisines of Turkey, a one-of-a-kind collection of authentic, easy-to-follow recipes from the village home cooks, community bakers, café chefs, farmers, and fishermen of Turkey. Joining Robyn will be renowned photographer David Hagerman, who provided the book’s stunning pictures.

E.Lockhart — Genuine Fraud, Monday, October 30, 7pm. Ticketed event
