In a sad but undeniable sign of the times, Wellesley High School staff will be participating in an Active Shooter Training session with the Wellesley Police Department on Wednesday, November 1. Because of the nature of the training, the school will be cleared of students and non-school personnel during the training, which is scheduled to take place after the students are dismissed for the high school’s monthly 11:19am early release day. There will be a police presence at the entrance to keep people from entering the school during the training.
Principal Jamie Chisum said in an email to the school community, “This is an important training for us to best keep all the kids safe in case of an emergency. This training has been done at all the public schools in Wellesley this fall. I appreciate everyone’s cooperation with this on Wednesday.”
