Wellesley public school parents and kids recently organized a school supplies drive that resulted in 8 huge boxes being sent down to Houston to help out those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Hardy/PAWS mom Shaunna Wuczynski says she joined forces with Lauren Lin and Nicole Myers to spread word of the drive via email, flyers and signs., and got other schools including Hunnewell and the High School involved, too. They got DHL to ship the items for free as well.
Asked what inspired her to take action, Wuczynski said her family has lived in Fort Worth and that her husband, now a basketball coach at Boston College, has had many previous players from the Houston area who have been directly affected by the hurricane. “After sitting and watching all the news reports and seeing all the devastation, I knew we needed to help,” she says.
