Grade 3 Wellesley Hoops League registration is now open
The new Third Grade Hoops program will consist of eight hour-long sessions of age-appropriate basketball skills and drills (30 minutes) and scrimmage (30 minutes). Players will be assigned to a team of 6-8 players and play on Saturdays from December 2nd-February 10th, excluding December 23rd and 30th, and January 13th. Girls will play in the mornings and boys will play in the afternoons at the Schofield Elementary School Gym. Volunteer coaches are needed. Practice plans will be provided to help coaches throughout the season. Registration will be open from September 16th until the program is fully subscribed.
Grade 4-9 Wellesley Hoops League registration also is now open
Wellesley Hoops is a balanced league where coaches draft players and everyone makes a team. Practices take place once a week on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday evenings from November 14th-February vacation. Teams play games every Saturday throughout the season. Playoff games will be played from February 26th-March 10th, with the awards banquet on March 11th. No travel is required in this competitive league as teams only play other teams in Wellesley. Registration is open now until October 20th. A late fee of $25 will be added to all registrations after October 20th.
Girls basketball clinic at Dana Hall
On Sunday, Nov. 5, from 4–5:30 p.m., Dana Hall School will host a basketball clinic for girls in grades 1–5. The $20 participant fee includes a special gift.
Dana Hall coaches and players will teach young girls about game fundamentals and basketball skills in an atmosphere fueled by fun, interactivity and aspiration. Girls will be grouped by age and ability, and beginners are welcomed.
