We posted earlier this fall about Wellesley High School junior Luis Hoderlein’s Wellesley Digital Bridges program to teach computer programming to local middle and high school students, while also raising funds to supply computers to school districts in need.
The program, in the form of Python coding classes held at the Wellesley Community Center, has raised more than $2,000, and participants recently visited the Boston Green Academy in Brighton to deliver 11 Chromebooks and 11 headphones.
“These donations will have a major impact on helping students at the Boston Green Academy to gain essential 21st-century skills,” Hoderlein says. The school plans to use the computers for science classes as well as various elective offerings.
“Going forward, I hope to establish ‘Wellesley Digital Bridges’, with the help of a team of high schoolers, and make it an institution in our town which can be passed on to the next generation after my graduation,” he adds.
