The Wellesley High Raiders football team treated a big boisterous home crowd to a thrilling fall-behind-lose-the-lead-come-from-behind 23-20 win over Needham High on Thanksgiving morning.
Big lines formed right before the start of the game, and Athletic Director John Brown was quick to hop up on a nearby rock and create an impromptu ticket booth for those who had exact change on hand.
Once inside the stadium, the crowd reformed, with band members here, families with young football players there and the glory days crowd sprinkled along the fence and in the bleachers, letterman jackets on full display.
While I was only able to catch the first quarter and a half before heading off for relatives pick-up duty, I got to see the Raiders pick off two passes (returning one for a touchdown) and enjoyed seeing sturdy senior Josh Cohen outrun the crowd on a 94-yard return of a blocked extra point attempt.

Great game! Think the Needham QB hurt his knee on the last play of the game which took some of the excitement out of the win.
BTW, no student discount to get in?! $75 to get our family of 5 into a HS football game is ludicrous. Basically anyone over 6 was charged full admission.

Indeed. I had to go back to my car to fetch an additional $5
