Wellesley Little League recently asked for donations of gently used baseball and softball gear to send along to an outfit called Roberto’s Kids, and the equipment came pouring in.

Organizer Todd Frampton estimates the league collected more than 40 helmets, 50 gloves, 300 bats, 20 pairs of cleats, 25 pants/shirts/caps/bags, etc., and dozens of baseballs. Sharon Little League also contributed 5 boxes of items.

The equipment will be distributed to young ballplayers from underserved communities.

Another equipment drive is likely to take place in the spring.
