A blizzard of wholly unprepared Wellesley shoppers storm Whole Foods

Impending nor’easter — threat or menace? Both if your larder is devoid of organic meats and local eggs, and you just heard that Wellesley public schools classes and activities are called off tomorrow (Thursday, 1/4). A sharp-eyed reader sent along these pics of cleared-out shelves at Whole Foods at 2:30. This reader says, “People were double parked in the lot. One car looked like the owner just left it in the middle of the lane and ran in.”

Here at The Swellesley Report editorial offices (aka my kitchen), we’ve got Chinese Barbecued Pork going in the crock pot right now. I am ever-grateful that I hit the grocery store at 8am (she said smugly).

The hens had best spend their time productively during Thursday’s nor’easter.

And here’s that same egg case at 5:08pm:

Looks like at least some shoppers are stocking up on their veggies

It gives me such a cozy feeling inside knowing that people all over town will be making soup tomorrow.

Apparently fish isn’t a big seller for storm shopping.

Meanwhile, over at Roche Bros., the fact that all of the carriages had disappeared at 10AM on Wednesday was surely a sign of the masses descending on that grocery store (thanks to DM for sharing photo):
