This week’s snowstorm has shut down Wellesley Public Schools for a second straight day, giving students and staff a long weekend. WPS Superintendent David Lussier made the call official at around 10pm on Thursday.
Dear Wellesley Community,
After today’s significant snowfall, the hard work of cleaning up has begun. Unfortunately, this will become more challenging with the high winds and drifting snow that will continue throughout the night. Dropping temperatures will also freeze any areas not already cleared.
After conversations with other town leaders, I have determined that we cannot open safely—even with a delay—tomorrow. As a result, the Wellesley Public Schools will be closed on Friday, January 5, 2018. No WPS staff should report to schools tomorrow. The status of afternoon and evening athletics will be communicated directly to families from the Athletics Department. The status of all other after-school and evening activities/rentals will be communicated by the sponsoring groups.
