Democrats in Wellesley will hold their 2018 Annual Caucus on Thursday, February 15, 8pm at the Wellesley Community Center, 219 Washington Street, Wellesley. Registration is 7:30pm – 8:15 pm.
The purpose of the Caucus is to elect 16 delegates and four alternates to the 2018 Massachusetts State Democratic Convention, which will be held on June 2, 2018 at the DCU Center –50 Foster Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. Delegates to the 2018 Convention will vote to determine which statewide candidates will be on the Democratic ballot for the 2018 Massachusetts Democratic Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, September 4. This will include candidates for governor as well as all other statewide constitutional officers.
Those who are registered in Wellesley as Democrats as of the date of the Caucus, and any pre-registered Democrats are eligible to participate in the Caucus and to run for election as a delegate or alternate to the State Convention. Pre-registered Democrats are those who will be 18 by September 18, 2018. There is a $75 convention fee, $50 for students/seniors/those with disabilities (with waiver for hardships), which must be paid online by April 20 by those elected to attend the Convention. Those voting must be present at the Caucus; there is no absentee or proxy voting.
